How do I upload a game?

To upload a HTML5 game properly to LunchGaming.com there are a few steps that must be followed.

1: Only .ZIP files are currently allowed. You can create these with native Windows, winzip, 7zip or similar.

2: You must have one main folder for your game that you then zip. The zip file and the main folder must have the same name. Example: If your main game folder's name is My Game, then the zip's name must be My Game.zip.

3: Within the main folder you can have all the subfolders and files you want. The only remaining requirement is that your main game file is placed in the root of the main game folder and that it is named index.html.

Then you sign in, go to "Upload Games" in the main menu, give it a name that is available, and upload the game. (Max sizelimit: 50MB)

Once uploaded, you can assign a picture, description, genre and lots of other details about the game.

How do I update a game I already uploaded?

Currently, for safety reasons, a user cannot update a game that's already been uploaded and accepted himself.

This will come eventually, but for the time being, when you have an update for your game, send an email to contact@lunchgaming.com with the updated gamefiles and we will do it for you.

When will my game be accepted?

Once your game has been submitted it will be playtested by a staff member. This is a sort of quality check. Once a staff member has played it and deemed its quality high enough, your game will be accepted into the public part of LunchGaming.com and you will be notified via the email address you used to register.

Until it is accepted (or declined) then you can see a list of pending games uploaded via "My Account" and then "Edit Games" once you're signed in.

Why wasn't my game accepted?

LunchGaming.com seeks to maintain a high standard of quality, which is why we manually test every game uploaded. If your game wasn't accepted, it was most likely because it didn't qualify for that standard: it could be lacking in either aspect like graphics, animation, sounds, music or any other area. It could also be declined because the staff member reviewing it found it unfit to our wished content. Usually when a game is declined, a staff member will include a personally written reason for it.

Remember though, that if your game is declined you will receive a notification by email. If you haven't it could be that it's just still awaiting testing. You can see a list of all the games you've uploaded that still awaits testing under "My Account" and then "Edit Games" once you're signed in.

Your forum doesn't work!

We are aware, currently there is no forum. This is on the to-do list during beta. The system upon which LunchGaming is built is a very custom solution, therefore complicating the proces a bit as compared to installing a premade BB forum or similar. Rest assured it will come, and when it does, your current account will be fully compatible.

It will be worth the wait!

I am missing this feature...

LunchGaming.com is currently in beta and a lot of features are hence yet to come. Alas, a lot of these features will come to action slowly but securely over time. Until then, see this list of planned features:

How do I get my game on the frontpage?

There are four ways this can/will happen.

First off, all games uploaded will eventually appear for a set amount of time under the "Newest Games" box on the frontpage. All newly uploaded games are queued and every game will get the same amount of time on the frontpage before pushed one slot down for the next game.

Your game will also automatically appear on the frontpage if it is the one with the highest rating or the most plays of the day.

Usually, only completed games are shown on the frontpage. However, if you've uploaded a game tagged as alpha/beta, and it is the one WIP with the most plays in one day, then it will also appear on the frontpage.

Where is my money!?

LunchGaming aims towards paying our contributing developers. At some point, each game will have its own ad, and every time that ad is viewed or clicked, the developer of that specific game will earn a generous percentage of it. It is the plan that LunchGaming will become a site where successful developers with popular games will earn a good share of money.

However, because we are currently in the first phase (which is getting enough game content to be able to market the website towards the casual gamer), we simply cannot make a viable advertising plan out of this yet. Once this becomes a reality though, all members will be given automatic notice with further details through email and the news system.

Keep posted.
